I've been horribly sick for the last couple of days, so I've struggled to get anything of note done. Which is bad, because the deadline for iddyiddybangbang is fast approaching and I'm nowhere near done. On the other hand, it turns out that high fevers make for interesting dreams, and the one I had last night was particularly wonderful, so I decided to convert it to fic form. I don't feel like I quite captured how great this particular dream was, but it's close enough that I feel happy enough sharing it here. Not sure about AO3 or anywhere else, though - not yet.
Please feel free to picture this all taking place in a dusty old road cafe somewhere in West Virginia - which really is nowhere near where I live, but it's close enough for the mood I have in mind.
( Well, the Doctor went down to West Virginia... )
Adventures In Seeking
Aug. 30th, 2018 07:53 pmI have also realized some things in regards to the Reticent Professor's own Seeking quest, which I suspect I will write more of in due course. First of all: I already (very) vaguely implied this in sing north, but he completed all of the Scars in quick succession in one day. (He may be accustomed to playing the long game, but in some manners he is very impatient indeed.) Secondly, doing this involved coming back from the dead no less than ten times, because the Well took several turns to properly take in his case. It's a very good thing he's excellent at chess, otherwise he wouldn't have made it back as quickly as he did - although he is now a very frequent opponent of the Boatman; something that may become a problem in future.
Oh, and if it wasn't obvious: the Irreverent Pyrotechnician knows that something's up. She might not be entirely sure of what it is quite yet, but she's not an idiot, and she's going to figure out what he's up to at some point or other.
current writing problems
Aug. 25th, 2018 09:56 pm1) I'm beginning to regret writing this out of order. Mainly because I'm currently halfway through writing the chapter 10 Epic Dramatic Confrontation scene, and the chapter 4 Dinner Party Scene where all of the plot threads for the reveal are set up is still at *checks* 243 words. And I have no idea how to even begin working on it. But that's just how my brain works when I'm writing these longfics, I guess.
2) Why did I pick this particular TV show to crossover with? Why oh why? I've realized just now that I cannot write any of the characters in this particular series to save my life, and even worse - they're not contributing enough to the plot for me to justify them being there.
2.5) but i can't get rid of them at this point. I'm too far into this for me to stop now.
3) Both Seven and Ace want, quite ferociously, to kill one particular character. Like, really properly kill. They have complete justification for wanting to do so, and it might even make sense story-wise for them to do it. But nonetheless - I can't morally let them commit homicide. And I'm actually afraid that I won't be able to stop them from doing it.
4) I'm also afraid that I won't finish this fic in time for the deadline. (I'm doing it for a Big Bang challenge. I swear, I didn't mean for it to get this long!) Hopefully they'll give me an extension, if I don't manage to get it all done by then.

I wanted to take a break from my current (ridiculously longfic) project to write something for the triple birthday of my favorite actors (Sylv, Sophie, and Anthony Ainley!!), and apparently that means that I make the Doctor and Ace feel pain. Like, a lot. This has nothing at all to do with my previous taz/dw crossover. It also cannot possibly be canon in either the Doctor Who or Adventure Zone universes, for reasons that will become apparent. Enjoy. Actually, you probably won't enjoy.
Go suffer, I guess.
( three, two, one (let’s go) )
fic: one plus six | Doctor Who

Before Protect & Survive, post-A Death in the Family. Spoilers for that last one. Thank you to dearest Jane for the light editing work.
( “Mister Hex, kindly do not taunt the armed, oncoming soldier squadron.” )

fic: sing north | Doctor Who/Fallen London

Sparked originally from the thought that Ace and Lup might get along rather well if they ever met, and then the thought that Seven's brolly might have potentially been the Umbra Staff in another universe. Spoilers, therefore, for up to Story and Song from the TAZ podcast.
( They're in the heat of battle (once again)... )
